A circular walk from Blisland through the De Lank granite quarry, used for many famous buildings including the Royal Opera House, between the moss-covered boulders and trees of the De Lank river valley and across the Pendrift Downs, passing Jubilee Rock - a huge granite boulder, decorated with carvings.

Highlights

  • Pretty Saxon village of Blisland
  • Moss covered boulders and ancient twisted oaks on Pendrift Downs
  • Panoramic views from Jubilee Rock - a huge granite boulder carved with insignia
  • Impressively ornate 15th Century church
  • Local food and real ales at Blisland Inn - winner of the CAMRA National Pub of the Year

Considerations

  • The paths either side of the Delank Quarry are uneven due to granite boulders.
  • Can get very muddy in winter after a prolonged period of rain. This can make the descent into the De Lank valley slippery.
  • The footpath across the De Lank valley floor passes through a marshy area which is wet even in the height of summer. Therefore waterproof footwear is recommended.
